Art Statement by Anne Clinton:
Little girls start out believing that they are all princesses and that they will find their princes, and live happily ever after. Then life happens. Girls grow into woman and boys into men. Women learn not all boys are prince material, and some princesses are just spoiled bitches. In the end we are all people. In your darkest times you may feel alone and the other is some mystery that you can never connect to, but then you turn to the person next to you and find that they are feeling and experiencing the same as you are. Love and hate, human and animal, sex and gender, are entities that do not separate us, but bind us. They may all come from various points of a web, but still meet at the center making them interconnected. I feel these connections between form, color, and sexuality, molding them all together to create forms that are twisted, yet beautiful. I want to make an art that is so sexy that you can’t take your eyes off it.
