Artist: Rena Teratani

Opening Reception: Friday, May 30, 6-8PM

ISE Cultural Foundation is pleased to present solo exhibition “In the midst of chaos” by Rena Teratani at the Front Space.

Rena Teratani’s work shows an artist’s effort to express her own anxiety that comes with trying to self-identify herself.  Her artistic practice is intended to share with viewers a sense of constraint and freedom coexist.  Rena Teratani was born in Japan and has been living in New York since in her early teen.  Trapped in between two very different cultures, Rena Teratani’s way of dealing with the feeling of anxiety that came with immigration is demonstrated on paper with precise lines and complex composition created within the space.  Her work presents the metaphor of an artist questioning conventions and searching her identity beyond the frame.
